The Department of Zoology, V.O. Chidambaram College, Tuticorin offers a couple of certificate courses namely “Certificate Course in Emergency Care Assistant” and Certificate Course in Cardiac Care Assistant” to the zoology students under the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Career Development (IECD) scheme of Bharathidasan University as additional credit courses. Our department signed MoU with Sundaram Arulraj Hospital, Thoothukudi to carry out the practical and internship paper for the course students.

The main aim of the courses to import the insight of medical science especially emergency care and cardiac care techniques and provide training to care hospital patients. After pursing the certificate courses along with the core science degree, the chance of finding jobs in hospital and diagnostic laboratories are relatively high. There are many opportunities in multispecialty hospitals, clinics and healthcare centres for those who have acquired knowledge and experiences in medical care and basic biological concepts. The students of emergency care assistant and cardiac care assistant can be work on an emergency ambulance, providing support to the clinician. They are required to be able to manage a patient and utilize skills under clinical supervision, and to act with their own skill level.
